Gutierrez hit with 10-place penalty

Sutton Images Enlarge Esteban Gutierrez will start from 20th for the United States Grand Prix after being hit with a 10-place grid penalty. During Q1, Gutierrez was seen warming his tyres by weaving from side-to-side on the approach to the final corner as Pastor Maldonado approached at racing speed on a flying lap. With Gutierrez continuing to rapidly change direction, Maldonado was forced to the very inside of the track to avoid contact. Gutierrez went on to make Q3, but having investigated the incident after qualifying the stewards handed out the severe penalty.
