McLaren helping Pérez find new seat

McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh says he helping Sergio Pérez secure a seat for the 2014 Formula 1 season, after dropping the Mexican in favour of Kevin Magnussen. Ahead of this weekend's United States Grand Prix, Pérez said he had been left in a "very difficult" situation due to a late McLaren decision, and suggested that if he is no longer able to race for an established team, he may have to look outside Formula 1. But Whitmarsh played down the effects of the outfit's call, and explained that he has already spoken to Lotus and Force India team chiefs in a bid to seal a new drive.
