Vettel sets the pace in second practice

Sebastian Vettel set the pace in second practice for the United States Grand Prix. After the foggy and heavily disrupted first session, the sun was out in force for the rather straight-forward 90 minute afternoon session as teams looked to make up for the time lost earlier in the day. Jules Bianchi, Giedo van der Garde and Jean-Eric Vergne made their race weekend on-track debuts after reserve drivers replaced them in the opening session. It was a busy start with Heikki Kovalainen being the first to emerge from the pit lane to take to the 3.427 mile circuit. He was swiftly followed out by Nico Hulkenberg and Paul di Resta.
