Valsecchi calls Lotus' Kovalainen appointment a 'tragedy'

Davide Valsecchi, Lotus’ Reserve Driver has called the team’s decision to choose Heikki Kovalainen to substitute for Kimi Raikkonen, rather than him, a “tragedy” and a 'major blow' to his career. Valsecchi – the 2012 GP2 Champion – has spent this season as Lotus’ Reserve Driver, attending all of the races with the team, with the purpose of standing-in for either Kimi Raikkonen or Romain Grosjean if a situation arose whereby they could not race. However, when the opportunity arose – with Kimi Raikkonen out for the final two races – the team instead chose to replace the Finn with his compatriot Heikki Kovalainen, rather than Valsecchi, citing the ex-Caterham...
