Hamilton given new chassis after Mercedes discover cracks

Lewis Hamilton will have a new chassis for this weekend's United States Grand Prix after his Mercedes team discovered two large cracks in his car during preparations ahead of first practice. The team conducted a strip down of the W04 on Thursday for detailed analysis, to find out why Hamilton's recent performances have been inconsistent in comparison to his team-mate Nico Rosberg's. The Brit has struggled for race pace at recent rounds but Mercedes believe two large cracks found in his chassis on could have been significant enough to affect the cars handling.
