Alonso given all clear to race in Austin

Fernando Alonso has been given the all-clear to race in this weekend's United States Grand Prix after passing a medical check in Austin. Alonso suffered a bumpy ride across the Yas Marina Circuit run-off area in Abu Dhabi two weeks ago after a battle with the Toro Rosso of Jean-Eric Vergne. The impact registered at 25G and caused the FIA-mandated g-force alarm to go off, meaning he had to undergo compulsory medical checks after the race. The Spaniard has suffered some back pain over the past two weeks and opted to miss media duties on Thursday to rest.
