Perez in 'difficult situation' after confirmation of McLaren departure
Sergio Perez says he has been left in a 'difficult situation' after McLaren's late decision to drop him for the 2014 season. The Mexican announced his departure from the Woking based squad on Wednesday in a letter posted on Twitter.
The confirmation, after weeks of speculation, now opens up a seat for McLaren young driver and Formula Renault 3.5 series champion Kevin Magnussen. The Dane looks set to become McLaren's first driver rookie since Lewis Hamilton in 2007.
Speaking at the FOTA Fan Forum in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday he said: 'I am in a difficult situation right now because the decision was taken very, very late. But I am confident I will find the best for my career.'
