JEV: Alonso prevented a big crash

Jean-Eric Vergne says the stewards were right not to penalise Fernando Alonso in Abu Dhabi as the Spaniard's actions prevented an accident. Coming out of the pits after his second stop, Alonso found himself alongside Vergne with almost no space between himself and the Toro Rosso. The Ferrari driver therefore went off track completely, running over the kerbs before rejoining ahead of the Frenchman. Alonso was investigated for ignore the track limits with the stewards ruling that he "had no choice." And Vergne has backed up their assessment. "It was a racing incident and if he had not gone on the outside [of the track] like he did, we would have had a big crash,"...
