F1 2013 – Maldonado to Lotus said to be a done deal
Paddock insiders are reporting that Pastor Maldonado has a done deal with Lotus F1 for the 2014 Formula one season, leaving Nico Hulkenberg without a seat at the Enstone based team.Maldonado’s backers, PDVSA, are said to of negotiated an exit deal with Williams F1 and are now free to back Maldonado at Lotus.Lotus were targeting Nico Hulkenberg, the signing was dependant on a 35% stake in the Lotus being sold to investors, that deal is said to of fell through leaving the team without the money to pay Hulkenberg’s wages.Maldonado’s exit makes way for ex-Ferrari driver Felipe Massa who is said to have around 6 million euro in backing from Brazilian oil giant Petrobras.
