Pirelli warns teams over tyre degradation in India

Tyre supplier Pirelli has warned teams to limit the amount of laps they complete on each of the compounds because degradation has been higher than expected. The supplier reportedly asked the FIA to enforce a maximum lap count during the race of 15 for the soft and 35 for the medium, but the FIA has refused to enforce the rule. According to the BBC, race director Chalie Whiting refused because: "the FIA does not want to force the teams to comply with Pirelli's limits because Whiting feels it is unfair to force teams whose cars have better tyre life to be reduced to the lowest common denominator.
