Webber claims first pole of season in Japan

Red Bull Racing’s Mark Webber topped the times on Saturday in qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix, his first pole position of the season.Webber, who had been quickest in final practice this morning, was fourth in Q1 and second in Q2, and he was then the only driver to break the 1 minute 31 second bracket in Q3. His first lap in the top-ten shootout was a 1m 30.975s and while he improved on his second and final run – posting a 1m 30.915s lap – both efforts would have been enough to give him his 12th career pole.Sebastian Vettel meanwhile had to settle for second in the sister RB9, with KERS problems hampering his efforts, although he still finished up only 0.174 seconds off his...
