Perez to use spare chassis after FP2 smash
Sergio Perez will use McLaren’s spare chassis for the rest of the Japanese Grand Prix weekend after the Mexican crashed heavily during Free Practice Two, damaging his own car. The Mexican went off at Turn 13, known as Spoon Curve, after dipping his right rear wheel onto the grass on the entry of the sweeping corner, which snapped the MP4-28 sharply to the left, with the McLaren skimming through the gravel trap and ending up in the barriers, causing heavy damage to the right side of the car.
'My accident during FP2 was my error,' admitted Pérez. 'I was setting the car up for the entry to Spoon, put my right-rear wheel onto the grass, and just lost the back end.
