Pirelli confirm tyre delamination for Perez due to flat spot

Pirelli have confirmed that Sergio Perez's mid-race tyre delamination was caused by a lock-up that resulted in a flat spot on his right-front. Motorsport director Paul Hembery admitted that the Italian firm's choice of tyre was perhaps a little bit aggressive, with the supersoft being perfect for qualifying and the medium compound being the preferred race tyre. Hembery also confirmed that the majority of the field would have completed a three-stop race if the two safety car periods had not occurred.
