First draft of 21-race 2014 calendar revealed
The first draft of the 2014 Formula 1 calendar has been revealed with 21 races set to take place, including Russia, Mexico and Austria but not New Jersey.
The provisional calendar has been distributed to teams ahead of this weekend's Italian Grand Prix. Despite the 2014 schedule needing approval from the FIA's World Motor Sport Council, who will meet in Croatia later this month, teams are preparing for the longest season in the sport's history.
The news will come as a blow to F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone who has been pushing hard for a race around the streets of New Jersey. Despite a reason for the postponement yet to be given, the race could join the 2015 calendar.
