Sirotkin to attend Italian Grand Prix

The Italian Grand Prix weekend will mark the first time that Sergey Sirotkin attends a race as an official member of the Sauber Formula 1 team, with the squad ramping up preparations to promote the Russian driver to a race seat in 2014. Sirotkin will attend all engineering briefings, as well as taking part in discussions on tyre strategy. The 18 year-old will be involved in any practice pitstops conducted throughout the weekend. The signing of Sirotkin to Sauber’s driver development programme sparked a fierce debate over the merits of pay drivers in the top echelon, with the Russian’s suitability for a race seat coming under scrutiny.
