Michelin emerges as Pirelli's potential rival for 2014

Michelin is ready to supply tyres to Formula 1 next season emerging as a rival to current tyre supplier Pirelli, which is yet to sign an agreement with motorsport’s governing body for 2014. Pirelli has reasoned that it has a contract with ten of the 11 teams for next year but the FIA is yet to confirm the Italian manufacturer’s presence in F1 next season. According to reports, Michelin is ready to hold talks should the FIA agree with the French manufacturer’s suggestion about the regulations governing the size of the tyres. Michelin exited the sport at the end of 2006, a year after the tyre fiasco at the United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis that saw only six cars...
