Vergne blames a lack of consistency for Red Bull snub
Jean-Eric Vergne has pinpointed his lack of consistency as the reason for Red Bull’s decision to overlook him, in favour of his Toro Rosso team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, for an opportunity for a seat at the senior team in 2014. Vergne had been cited as a possible replacement for Mark Webber, following the 36-year-olds announcement that he would be leaving Formula One to race for Porsche at Le Mans.
However, the Frenchman’s chances were dashed early on in the process to replace the Australian, with Red Bull seemingly cutting the shortlist to just Kimi Raikkonen and Daniel Ricciardo.
