Russian GP misses FIA application deadline

The organisers of the Russian Grand Prix, which is supposed to form part of the 2014 calendar, have missed the deadline to submit its application to the FIA. The organisers were given a deadline of July 31st to submit its application for approval by the governing body to join next seasons calendar. However they failed to do so amid an ongoing dispute between the organier and the Russian Automobile Federation (RAF). A statement from the RAF confirms it will support the application once a solution has been found to the dispute, and will claim 'force majeure' as the reason for the delay.
