Ecclestone confirms no Indian GP in 2014

Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed that the Indian Grand Prix will be dropped from the 2014 calendar, with discussions now underway to stage the race in early 2015. Having cast doubt over the event earlier this week, the Formula 1 supremo says he has always been eager for it to be held in the first half of the season, claiming the October slot was a compromise with promoters Jaypee Sports International. "When we signed the five-year deal with Jaypee, we were keen on going to India in the first half and Jaypee wanted it to be in October," Ecclestone told the IANS news agency.
