Vergne – “We were definitely too slow today.”
Jean-Eric Vergne has admitted that his Toro Rosso team had simply been off the pace on the first day of action at the Hungaroring, as the Hungarian Grand Prix got underway. Vergne could only manage 14th and 16th fastest in Friday’s two practice sessions, two seconds down on Sebastian Vettel’s fastest time for Red Bull in Free Practice 2.
Vergne explained that a lot of work would be needed to turn around the Italian based team’s weekend: “Performance wise, we were definitely too slow today, so I expect we will need to make big changes on the car for tomorrow”.
