Wolff: Mercedes tyre situation improved
Mercedes Executive Director Toto Wolff expects that the rate of tyre degradation on the team’s W04 chassis will be reduced in Hungary, but is still remaining wary of the combined effects of Pirelli’s new tyre compounds, and expected humid conditions at the Budapest venue. Although consistently displaying grid-topping pace over one lap, the Brackley-based squad has suffered with excessive tyre wear in the races this season, with Lewis Hamilton dropping back from pole in the German Grand Prix to finish in fifth amid soaring temperatures.
