Maldonado hoping new tyres improve Williams' fortunes

Pastor Maldonado is hopeful that Pirelli’s revised tyres will help Williams bring more out of their car after sampling the new rubber at Silverstone on Thursday. At this point last season Maldonado had scored 29 points and a race win, whereas in 2013 he’s yet to register a point. The Venezuelan attributes much of this to the fact that the FW35 has not suited his driving style, but he’s cautiously optimistic that the revised tyres (which are the 2012-specification construction combined with the 2013 compounds) could improve the situation when they are introduced in Hungary. “I’m very limited this year,” he explained. “I’m not driving the car,...
