Troubled McLaren tops first day of young driver test
McLaren, struggling for results this season, was on top of the timesheets after Kevin Magnussen emerged as the quickest driver on the opening day of the young driver test at Silverstone on Wednesday. Dogged by poor performances throughout the season, McLaren is hoping to resolve some of its issues with its car before the campaign resumes at the Hungarian Grand Prix at the end of the month. With 100 laps under his belt – the most by any team during the day – Magnussen clocked a time of 1 minute 33.602 seconds at the track, which was host to the British GP last month that saw dramatic tyre explosions during the race.
