Symonds to join Williams as technical chief

Pat Symonds will join Williams as its Chief Technical Officer next month. The former Renault chief, whose departure from Marussia was announced earlier on Tuesday, will step into the shoes of Technical Director Mike Coughlan, who is to leave the team. Following the crashgate scandal of 2008, Symonds ended his short-term ban from the sport by aiding the Marussia as a consultant. Having held the post since 2011, he left to take up his new role with Williams, which becomes active on August 19. "Williams is a team steeped in success and engineering excellence and I’m honoured to be asked to play a role in returning the team to its rightful place at the pinnacle of Formula 1," said...
