McLaren to run young drivers only at test
McLaren have chosen to go against the current trend of running current race drivers and rookies at the upcoming Silverstone test. The Woking squad has instead opted to only run 'young' drivers in the form of Kevin Magnussen, Olivery Turvey and regular test driver Gary Paffett. The trio will analyse a number of developments as McLaren struggles to understand its MP4-28 which, despite nine races having past, is still well off the pace. "The Silverstone young driver test will be an extremely useful opportunity for us to conduct further investigative work into the effects of aerodynamic and mechanical changes to the car," explained team principal Martin Whitmarsh.
