Fangio’s Mercedes sold for £17.5 million

A Mercedes W196 driven by five-time Formula One world champion Juan Manuel Fangio during the 1954 season has been sold for $26.4 million (£17.5 million) at an auction at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The W196 won the 1954 German and Swiss Grands Prix with Fangio at the wheel, and it becomes one of the most expensive automobiles ever sold.
