Vettel: Red flag up to Whiting

Sebastian Vettel says it will be up to Charlie Whiting to stop Sunday's German GP if the race witnesses a repeat of the tyre failures which marred last week's British GP.Race Director Whiting has since confirmed that he was on the verge of stopping the race at Silverstone after a number of cars suffered high-speed tyre blowouts. Although Pirelli have reintroduced Kevlar-belted tyres in order to placate fears of a repeat, the Grand Prix Drivers' Association, of which Vettel is a director, issued a strongly-worded statement on Thursday evening warning "if similar problems should manifest themselves during the German GP, we shall immediately withdraw from the event."
