Alonso confident of improved Ferrari pace

Fernando Alonso was in a positive frame of mind following the opening two practice sessions at the Nürburgring on Friday, the Ferrari driver claiming that his team is back to the level of competitiveness it enjoyed prior to last weekend's British Grand Prix. The Spaniard, who was hindered by a persistent electronic issue in the opening 90-minute practice session, ultimately ended the day sixth fastest, 0.640 seconds behind overall pace-setter and main championship rival Sebastian Vettel.
