Alonso: Better but still not there

Fernando Alonso believes Ferrari have made a step forward in Germany despite missing the weekend's first practice session. The double World Champion's German Grand Prix weekend got off to a dismal start when his F138 broke down out on track just two laps in. Ferrari revealed it was an electrical issue that tech director Pat Fry admitted took "a while to work out it was." Back in action in the afternoon's session, Alonso covered 39 laps with a best time of 131.056, which put him 0.640s short of Sebastian Vettel's P1 time.
