Tyres are working very well, says Button

Jenson Button says Pirelli's new Kevlar-belted tyres are "working very well" at the Nürburgring, with no issues uncovered during the opening three hours of practice. The McLaren driver, who ended the day ninth fastest, reckons the Italian manufacturer has found a solid compromise following the string of tyre failures suffered during the British Grand Prix, with his only fear being a Prime tyre that is slightly too durable. "The Pirelli tyres are working very well here; obviously, the Option has much more grip than the Prime," Button explained. "It seems that the idea behind the two compounds is to give us a qualifying tyre that doesn’t last long and a race tyre....
