Drivers threaten to boycott race over tyres

The Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) has written to the FIA threatening to boycott the German Grand Prix if it sees a repeat of what happened at Silverstone last weekend. The British GP saw no less than five tyre failures which almost resulted in the race being red flagged. The GPDA, which represents the majority of the grid, says it will withdraw its drivers if, during practice, the tyres show signs of failing in a similar fashion, citing driver safety as its biggest concern.
