Rosberg hails 'special' Silverstone victory

Nico Rosberg has described his British Grand Prix victory as 'very special', with the Mercedes driver claiming that the win represents a just reward for the development progress made by the Brackley-based squad over the past few weeks. The German had inherited the lead after Sebastian Vettel was forced into retirement with a technical issue, Rosberg having spent most of the race a nearby second, albeit never threatening his countryman. Following the Red Bull driver's exit, he faced a late charge from Mark Webber, but was just able to hold on to claim victory, the latter's decision to pit for fresh tyres during the final Safety Car period paying dividends.
