Ricciardo quickest in rain affected practice

Daniel Ricciardo set the fastest time as rain affected first practice ahead of the British Grand Prix. Relentless rain left the circuit soaked and, after a few installation laps, there was little running for the first hour of the session. Eventually it was Daniel Ricciardo who ventured onto the circuit and he set the quickest time, a 1:57.992s Nico Hulkenberg was second, with Jules Bianchi in third place. Despite the limited running, there was still sufficient time for Charles Pic to lose control of his Caterham and hit the wall at Club. Half of the runners failed to set a lap time. Weather forecasts suggests that conditions will improve for second practice.
