Murray Walker diagnosed with cancer

Legendary Formula 1 commentator Murray Walker has been diagnosed with a form of lymphatic cancer, he has revealed. The cancer was found during tests after Walker was hospitalised for a recent fall in which he broke his pelvis. "They've caught it incredibly early. It's treatable, the doctors say my condition is mild and I'm very hopeful," he said. The 89-year-old, who is admired by many fans for his unique commentary and 'murrayisms', had commentated on F1 for 30 years with the BBC and ITV before retiring in 2001. He will start a programme of chemotherapy treatment over the next few months and has cancelled plans to attend next week's British Grand Prix.
