Bernie: Merc should have said no

Bernie Ecclestone has thrown his weight behind Pirelli in the testing saga, saying they did nothing wrong in asking and that Mercedes should have said no. Later this month Mercedes and Pirelli will appear before the FIA's International Tribunal to give evidence about their controversial in-season test. The two parties were in action in the wake of the Spanish GP when they conducted a 'private' three-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya. However, the main issue in the test is the fact that Mercedes used this year's W04 and they therefore stand accused of breaking the sporting regulations. Asked for his thoughts on the subject, Ecclestone made it very clear who he reckons is in the wrong....
