Vettel beats Hamilton to Canada pole

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel beat Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton to pole position at the Canadian Grand Prix. Finnish novice Valtteri Bottas starred in the Williams to take third in damp conditions ahead of Mercedes' Nico Rosberg and Red Bull's Mark Webber. Vettel's title rivals, Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Lotus's Kimi Raikkonen, will start sixth and ninth. McLaren's Jenson Button took 14th and Force India's Paul di Resta 17th. Vettel, who has never won in Canada, beat Hamilton by just 0.087 seconds but the stand-out performance in difficult conditions was by Bottas.
