Mercedes to face tribunal over tyre test, Ferrari let off

Mercedes will face the International Tribunal after an inquiry by Formula 1’s governing body concluded that the controversial tyre test with Pirelli last month “may constitute a breach of the applicable FIA rules.” The FIA statement issued late on Wednesday also cleared Ferrari of any wrongdoing in regards to the Italian’s team’s test in Barcelona ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix as “using for this purpose a 2011 car is not deemed to contravene the applicable FIA rules”.
