Rosberg slides from pole as Mercedes strips tyres

Another Mercedes pole position was squandered on Sunday, in the second straight race, after Nico Rosberg struggled to keep the tyres working on his car at the Spanish Grand Prix. As was in the preceding Bahrain GP, the German driver was overtaken by his rivals before his first pit stop as the Pirellis degraded quicker on the Mercedes than any of the other frontrunners. 'It's so strange, it's so inexplicable,' said Rosberg who finished sixth but not before he had to fend off the Force India of Paul di Resta in the closing stages. 'I just don't understand it.'
