Vettel moves ahead in second practice

Sebastian Vettel moved ahead of the competition during a clear second free practice session in Barcelona on Friday afternoon. The Red Bull driver posted a personal best effort of 1:22.808 to lead morning pace-setter and Ferrari rival Fernando Alonso by 17 thousandths of a second, while Mark Webber finished in third. With this morning’s poor weather conditions making way for a dry spell, the drivers quickly headed out to learn more about their respective upgrade packages. A mixture of stints on the prototype and standard Hard compound tyre preceded the faster Medium tyre runs, with Vettel coming out on top during a rare traffic-free tour.
