Local Hero Alonso On Top In First Practice Session

Fernando Alonso topped the time sheets in a damp first practice session at Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix with a time of 1m25.252s. With much of the session too wet for slicks the pack struggled to get decent track time, many teams taking the opportunity to test their latest developments. Alonso dominated the time sheets for most of the session while team-mate Felipe Massa pushed up the pace as the teams switched to slick tyres finishing 0.203s behind the sister Ferrari. While the two Ferrari's were fastest Toro Rosso's Jean-Eric Vergne put in an impressive performance to take third spot.
