Alonso set to take part in his 200th GP in Malaysia

Fernando Alonso will be participating in his 200th Grand Prix this weekend in Malaysia although it will be his 198th Formula 1 race start on Sunday. The 31-year-old had failed to start the 2001 Belgian GP after the gearbox in his Minardi gave up and the United States GP in 2005 as all the cars on Michelin tyres - including Alonso’s Renault - pulled out of the race for safety reasons after the warm up lap. As a result, the double world champion will be starting his 200th race in Bahrain next month.
