Rosberg sets fastest time of the test on final morning

Nico Rosberg helped to underline the Mercedes W04's competitiveness with a new fastest time of the week on the final day of pre-season testing, beating team-mate Lewis Hamilton's best effort by over 0.4s. Rosberg was on soft tyres when he set the time in the final hour before lunch, stretching the potential of the updated Mercedes in the good conditions. Fernando Alonso showed strong pace in the Ferrari as well, clocking a 1:20.494 on soft tyres ahead of lunch. The times were likely set during qualifying simulation runs - although not necessarily on qualifying fuel loads - ahead of the longer runs expected in the afternoon.
