German Grand Prix confirmed at Nürburgring

The German Grand Prix has finally be confirmed on the 2013 calendar, ending weeks of speculation over the event. It was announced by Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone on Thursday that the race will be held at the Nürburgring on 7 July. Formula 1 last visited the Nürburgring in 2011The Eifel venue was declared bankrupt six months ago, casting a dark shadow of uncertainty over the event. However, after back-and-forth discussions between circuit organisers and Ecclestone, a deal has now been reached to save the race. "I appreciate the Nürburgring and its history very much," said Ecclestone. "Even today, this Grand Prix circuit makes the highest demands on drivers and teams....
