2013 Ferrari to be called F138

Ferrari has announced that its 2013 challenger will be known as the F138 ahead of its launch on Friday. The name is a combination of the year, 2013, and the number of cylinders in the engine, eight. In recent years Ferrari has used a number of naming methods, most commonly by prefixing the year with an 'F', but also celebrating its 60 years in the sport with the F60 in 2010 and the 150th anniversary of Italy's unification with the 150 Italia in 2011. The most recent name is closer to the traditional method, which combines engine displacement and cylinder count, such as the 156 from 1961 and the 312s from the 1960s and 1970s.
