Chilton promoted to race seat

Britain's Max Chilton has been promoted to a race seat with Marussia in 2013, replacing the Caterham-bound Charles Pic. The 21-year-old drove for the Marussia-backed Carlin team in GP2 this year, finishing fourth in the Drivers' Championship and claiming two wins, before joining the F1 team as reserve driver at the Japanese GP. Chilton gained his super-licence after completing the required mileage at the Silverstone Young Driver Test in July and made his F1 debut during first practice in Abu Dhabi.
