JJ Lehto cleared of boat crash charges

Ex-Formula 1 driver JJ Lehto has been cleared of all charges relating to a boat accident which killed one of his friends in July of 2010. The Finn, who was originally sentenced to two years and four months in prison, is no longer facing punishment. When the case went to court, Lehto was judged to have been drunk and breaking the speed limit at the time of the crash, leading to his initial jail term. However, the 46-year-old has successfully appealed the decision after claiming that he was not at the wheel of the boat when it crashed into the support pillar of a bridge.
