Mark Webber regrets 2012 inconsistency

Mark Webber has said that his inconsistency, particularly in the second half of the season, cost him a shot at the 2012 title. Webber was within reach of championship leader Fernando Alonso after victories in Monaco and Britain, but fell back to eventually finish a distant sixth in the points. 'I was in a great position to challenge for the championship after that victory at Silverstone. Unfortunately, the season unravelled a bit for me after that', he wrote in his BBC Sport column.
